Salmon burst swimming

Postdoctoral fellowship

Many salmon must complete challenging migrations to reach spawning grounds for their only opportunity to reproduce. These migrations can include rapids and waterfalls which can poses challenges and even prevent passage at high flows. Fish that do navigate challenging rapids can potentially die from the effects of intense exercise before they spawn. I am studying the effects of sprinting on the health and recovery of adult Pacific salmon.
